Dental Bridges are a way of replacing a tooth with a fixed, non removable solution. Our dentists generally place very minimally prepared bridges, which will have a metal/porcelain wing that bonds to the back portion of an adjacent tooth to a natural looking porcelain tooth, to replicate the missing original tooth.
After a careful clinical examination and once the gap has fully formed, our dentist will very conservatively prepare the adjacent tooth and take all the necessary photographs and possibly ask our expert ceramist to attend this appointment to ensure a perfect shade match. After this first appointment a temporary bridge will be fitted, then a week later the final bridge is fitted onto the adjacent tooth.
I have visited Dental Beauty Addington quite frequently with my daughter in the past 3 months and the care I have received has been extremely efficient and comforting. The clinicians, dental nurses and reception team have gone above and beyond with their care and have created a safe environment especially during these difficult times. I would highly recommend this dental practice.
Fantastic dental practice with a superb, caring team who always put their patients' well-being and satisfaction first. Would thoroughly recommend for all dental needs
Mr Gohill has looked after my families dental care for over twenty-five years. The service has always been excellent. The dental nurses and reception staff are also very kind and helpful.
Bridges can vary in designs; generally a wing of metal will be used to attach the new porcelain tooth to an adjacent tooth to fill any unsightly gaps.
Sometimes a full crown will be placed on the adjacent tooth, which is then attached to the new porcelain tooth. The materials used for bridges can vary from case to case, but generally a metal fused to porcelain would be used or very strong porcelain will be used alone.
Our dentists have taken a special interest in shade taking and use the latest technologies in dentistry to ensure the perfect shade match is achieved every time. In more complex cases, we will bring world-class dental ceramist to come into the surgery to confirm the shade match.
Generally speaking, the average lifespan of a bridge is 12-15 years. At Dental Beauty Addington we believe that with some meticulous care on our part, and suitable cleaning on your part, a bridge should exceed these averages.
In order to be suitable for treatment, your teeth need to be strong enough to hold the load of the dental bridge. It is also important that you have a good standard of oral hygiene before the bridge is placed.
